Shannon Donnally Quinn is an Associate Professor of Russian and Technology Specialist at Michigan State University. She has a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in Slavic languages and literature and a master’s degree in instructional design from the University of Massachusetts.

Molly Godwin-Jones | Associate Editor

Molly Godwin-Jones is a Learning Design Specialist at the Language Flagship Technology Innovation Center at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In this position, she supports Language Flagship programs across the US in implementing and assessing technology. Molly is also working to complete her PhD at the University of Kansas in Slavic Languages and Literatures with a focus on second language acquisition. Her research interests include Russian language pedagogy and improving student spoken fluency.

Frederick Poole is an Assistant Professor in the Master of Arts in Foreign Language Teaching program at Michigan State University. He has a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences and a Master of Second Language Teaching from Utah State University. His research investigates the implementation of technology for assessing second language literacy skills and the effect of well-designed games on second language learning, teaching, and classroom dynamics.

Edwige Simon is Director of Instructional Technology and Online Learning at the International Center for Language Studies in Washington DC. She earned a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Boulder ATLAS Institute. Her work focuses on language teacher professional development and online learning.

Lisa Frumkes | Interviews Editor

Lisa Frumkes holds a degree in Slavic Linguistics from the University of Washington and has been working in technology-enhanced learning since 1989. She has led content- and curriculum-development efforts at edtech companies, including Duolingo and Rosetta Stone. She currently teaches English as a Second Language to adults around the world.

Gisele El Khoury is the Director of the Language Resource Center and an Arabic instructor at St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY. She earned a master’s degree in educational technology from the State University of New York, Potsdam, and a master’s in law from the Lebanese University. Her work focuses on research and development, implementing technological tools to create engaging curriculums, and fostering a vibrant language learning environment on campus.

Angelika Kraemer is the Director of the Language Resource Center at Cornell University. She has a Ph.D. in German Studies from Michigan State University, specializing in second language acquisition and CALL. Her research interests include language center management and second language acquisition, specifically technology-enhanced and mobile language learning, languages across the curriculum, and student motivations.

Lauren Hetrovicz | Editorial Board

Lauren Hetrovicz is an Assistant Professor of Spanish at the Community College of Baltimore County. She has a Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics with a graduate specialization in SLATE (Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education) and a Master’s in the Teaching of English as a Second Language (TESOL) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her principal areas of research are second language acquisition, heritage language learners, and technological tools for language learning.

Molly Peeney is a Lecturer in Foreign Languages at the University of Pennsylvania, where she teaches Russian language and literature. She has a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Slavic Languages and Literature and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Temple University.

Wenjing Huang is a high school Mandarin Chinese teacher teaching in independent schools. She earned a master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) from New York University. Her interests include integrating technology tools and authentic materials into language instruction.

Russell Hugo is the director of the Language Learning Center at the University of Washington in Seattle and Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Washington in Linguistics, focusing on Computer Assisted Language Learning, Indigenous Languages and Technology, and Sociolinguistics.

Dr. Dan Nickolai is an Associate Professor of French and the Director of the Language Resource Center at Saint Louis University. He has a professional and educational background in the fields of Computer Science, French, and Second Language Acquisition. His current work focuses on developing web-based applications that support language learning, assessment, and research.
