5 Takeaways: Authors Guidelines

The FLTMAG 5 Takeaways are short pieces in which we summarize for the readers of The FLTMAG the 5 (or a different number) best or most interesting or most useful ideas that the author took away from a text (book, article, podcast, video, etc). The goal of these pieces is to help people decide whether they would like to read/listen/watch the text in question, or to help share what we have learned, since we can’t all read and listen to everything! 

Before beginning your piece, make sure that no one has already written a “5 Takeaways” piece for the text that you are considering writing about.

In your article, be sure to include the relevant information about the source text (including the DOI or URL if applicable), so that readers can find it themselves if they would like to follow up. 

The average word count of “5 Takeaways” articles is 1000-2000 words.
