Screenr: Free Screencasts

Screenr is a free and user-friendly web-based screen recorder offered by Articulate Global, the company behind Storyline and Studio 9 (e-learning software). You can sign in with your Facebook or Google account and create an unlimited number of 5-minute screencasts. If you need to make longer recordings, you may go Pro and choose from a variety of licensing options. The Lite license costs $19/month and stores 250 private screencasts for an unlimited number of users. What we like about Screenr is that it lets you download an mp4 file (as opposed to a bulky Flash file). You also get a url, an embed code or you can upload your screencast directly to YouTube. Screenr works on Macs and PCs and once you’ve created a profile, users can subscribe to your feed. You may use it to create quick tutorials, give tours of your online course, and create short videos of yourself giving feedback on oral assignments. We also tested it to see if it could capture Skype sessions and worked very well.  Want to know more? Check out this 1 minute tutorial.
